Who are you?
I am Sander Hoogendoorn, an independent dad and traveler. A seasoned developer with over four decades of experience and still daily writing code. I have survived in tech in various roles, from CTO of companies like iBOOD.com, ANVA, and Klaverblad to being Capgemini's global agile thought leader.

I'm known for my post-agile mindset and provocative perspectives, and I empower organizations and teams to break free from the norm and embrace innovation. That's not just about writing code; it's also about rewriting the rules.

As an author and captivating speaker, I have shared my ideas and practices at international conferences, covering topics from disruption, culture, and life beyond agile to continuous delivery, microteams, software architecture, monads, microservices, and the art of writing elegant code. I truly believe in the power of critical thinking to solve problems and encourage teams to approach software development with a strategic, mindful touch.

I strongly believe that taking small steps is the path to progress, and the mind is the ultimate tool for success.

What do you do for a living?
I am the chief technology officer at e-commerce iBOOD.com, where tech is crucial to survival and growth and where my team and I innovate and renovate the company's micro-architecture platform.

What are you going to talk about at FlowCon?
During my opening keynote, I will address the necessity to move beyond conventional agile, technical death, beyond the innovator's dilemma and rigid agile translations to be able to survive in the chaos of today's world.

What are you the proudest of?
After a severe burn-out in 2009/2010, I was able to re-focus my life, streamlining it to maximize my time and effort towards the things that are truly important.

What speaker and/or topic would you like to see at FlowCon?
Kim van Wilgen is a customer director and CTO at Schuberg Philis. She has liberating thoughts and ideas about continuous delivery, self-organization, and autonomy. She fits the FlowCon stage perfectly.

If you were an art piece, which one would it be?
Nuit étoilée sur le Rhône by Vincent Van Gogh (in Musee d'Orsay in Paris). It's dazzling, slightly chaotic, full of life and energy, and still slightly mythical.

What's your favorite band, artist or song?
According to Spotify, I've listened to 144 musical genres in 2023. :)

Sum up your session or workshop in only 1 sentence
Why and how to survive in our current chaotic society, by going taking smaller steps.

What are the 3 top takeaways from your session or workshop?
